East Coast Wado Karate Instructors
Martial Arts Club serving Sackville, Bedford and Hammonds Plains, NS
A student of the arts for roughly 30 years, I have trained in many styles before making WIKF Wado Ryu my home. Beginning studies in Chito Ryu I earned my 1st Kyu, then Shotokan where I also achieved a 1st Kyu. The third time was the charm, grading to shodan in WIKF in 2007.
I am proud to have several students achieve yudansha ranks and strive to make East Coast Wado one of the larger karate clubs in eastern Canada. Wado is an in depth karate style focusing on subtle movements, in close fighting and kata primarily from the Tomari-te lineage. Looking forward to meeting you. |
I have been a student of karate for 10 years, all as a student of Sensei Jones at East Coast Wado. In 2015, I achieved Nidan, grading in front of Sensei Wicks in Toronto.
I have been instructing at East Coast Wado from early in my karate career - first as an assistant instructor and then as instructor for various levels from Red Belt up. I truly enjoy instructing and see it as an integral part of my own learning - passing on what I have learned and learning from each and every student I teach. |
I have been training in the Wado Ryu style under Sensei Kevin Jones for the past 13 years. I achieved my First Black Belt in 2015 and my Second Black Belt in 2018, both under Canadian Chief Instructor Ken Corrigan.
I primarily teach the youngest of our students, the Little Dragons, and tend to be the one running around and acting crazy. I’m also fortunate to help Sensei JF Charette with the other kids classes as well. I'm honoured to have been President of the East Coast Wado Karate Club for the past 5 years. I have been the President of WIKF Canada for last 3 years. I have also been lucky enough to have held multiple other Executive Positions at East Coast Wado, including Vice President and Parent Liaison. East Coast Wado is my second family and consider myself lucky to be part of this Club and Organization. Welcome to East Coast Wado Karate Club!!! |
I’ve been training with Sensei Jones for over 14 years in the style of Wado Ryu and have achieved the rank of Nidan. I’ve had the privilege to train both nationally and internationally with the highest Senseis in North America and with Sensei Wicks, the World Chief Instructor.
I’ve served as the President of East Coast Wado and sat as a Board Member of Karate Nova Scotia for the past 10 years. I teach both kids and adult classes. Practising karate is a life-long endeavour and I look forward to many more years! |
I have been training in the Wado Ryu style of karate for over 13 years all under the instruction of Sensei Jones. In June 2018 I received my 3rd Dan Black Belt in front of Sensei Corrigan.
I have been instructing at East Coast Wado for many years. Currently I instruct our youngest students. Their energy and enthusiasm keep me energized for my own practice. It gives me great joy to see their confidence grow and to see them move from Little Dragons to the Kyu classes. One of the things I love about karate is how you learn from the person that has gone before you, and those that follow learn from you. “By learning you will teach, by teaching you will learn” Latin Proverb |
